Pastor Tennison is a visionary church planter and is working to launch, relaunch, & plant works in the western part of Ohio.
Currently, in addition to being a Lead Pastor of The Pentecostals Of West Ohio and a church planter, Pastor Tennison is the Ohio District UPCI Section 6 Christian Prisoner Ministry Director / Chaplain, and the Prayer Ministry Coordinator for Section 6 of the Ohio District UPCI.
The Pentecostals Of West Ohio is the network of UPCI church works which is just across the western state line of Ohio, Pastored by Rev. Rick Tennison.
Currently, Eaton Hope Center in Eaton, is a relaunch work. Greenville Worship Center in Greenville is a new church plant. We've ministered by way of small bible study groups in New Lebanon, Lewisburg and have obtained District approval to hold bible studies in Englewood, and have endeavored to reach Brookville.
Eaton Hope Center is a relaunch work in Eaton Ohio within Preble County Ohio. Initially launched in 1982, the church for so long has struggled to grow, and to maintain. Several Pastors have come and gone, and just prior to Pastor Tennison accepting the helm of the church, it had dwindled down to just a few people. Over 30 souls have been baptized since Pastor Tennison arrived, just in the Eaton church, and in the midst of working through an attempted relaunch, Pastor Tennison has successfully planted a new and separate work in a neighboring city.
Pastor Tennison went to Greenville with a bible and no connections within the city. Praying through the city, spending hours in a coffee shop, and knocking doors led to a bible study. Soon the home bible study around a kitchen table led to services, with the first being held in the basement of a home.
While still not yet an officially formed church, our small bible study group moved to a building. Services were held once a week on Sundays, and then we launched a midweek bible study service. A few came and went along the way, mostly from other local churches, as a few sought for opportunities. We preserved, and began connecting with our city, and the Lord has since been adding to the church.
Pastor Tennison spent 14 years as a Corporate Trainer / Employee Development Specialist, writing training materials and conducting training for one of the world's largest companies. Prior to that, he was management, and conducted training in that role for several years, allowing for over 20 years as a Trainer.
In addition to a professional career, Pastor Tennison has been in ministry, in practically every role within the local church. Leading and establishing ministry departments in churches, training, mentoring, and establishing leaders is nothing new to Pastor. Roles and departments such as Men's Ministry, Outreach, Bus Ministry, Youth Ministry, Children's Ministry, and more have been established and leaders trained by Pastor Tennison.
Pastor has taken this expertise and has put into place, ministry training, mentorship, and intern opportunities. Several have been led and trained by Pastor Tennison, with one being granted a Christian Ministry License within the local church, and another having obtained their local license with the Ohio District UPCI.
For over 30 years Pastor has also been engaged in Music Ministry, in a variety of roles including being a platform musician.
A little girl approached her mother one day and asked her why she always cut the pot roast in two before cooking it. Her mom replied rather quickly, "Because my mom always did it that way."
Still perplexed the little girl went to her grandmother and asked the same question. She was a little let down when grandma gave the exact same response.
By now, mom and grandma joined in with their curiosity and all three went to great grandma and yet again, "because my mom always did it that way." So all four went to great great grandma and asked the now nearly infamous question.
This time the answer was clear and precise, and yet very different. The dear elder answered in her kind, soft voice, "Because I didn't have a pot big enough to cook the whole thing in."
For years... even GENERATIONS, they had passed down this tradition, not even knowing why. Many do the same with the church they attend and the type of religious beliefs that they hold onto... not even knowing WHY!!
Why are you _______? Do you ________? Why that church? Why those beliefs. Did you know you can be sincere and yet sincerely wrong? Eternity is too long to be wrong. Let me spend an hour in a bible study with you and let's explore God's Word together.
